Installation Document, 784 Invoice Papers, and 2 videos. Vienna 2009-2012.
In 2009, Akram al Halabi started his work on the project “Snowflakes”. In public places, he asked people whom he met randomly to define themselves at the moment of their meeting and write this definition on individual papers used for invoicing to which he added small geometric forms using pliers to create lines in the shape of fingerprints and snowflakes. With the dye of these carbon papers turning blue upon pressure, each participant received a copy of their work. They reflect the individuality of those participating in the project with al Halabi creating a medium for their encounter. From 2009 to 2012, he invited 784 people whom he met throughout his journeys to different places including Venice, Vienna, Jerusalem, Ramallah, the Golan Heights, Munich, Stockholm, Umea and Rome to participate in the project.
