Noor Abu Arafeh

Noor Abuarafeh was born in 1986 and lives in Jerusalem. She received her BFA from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, going on to participate in Ashkal Alwan’s one year HomeWorks program in Beirut, Lebanon. She is currently studying for her MFA at the Ecole Cantonale d’art du Valais (ECAV) in Switzerland.

Her recent work explores elements related to memory, history and identity by using public and

personal archives (oral stories, blogs, photographs, books), examining these elements by dissembling them using an allegorical language to reveal different readings. In the last two years, she has been an artist-in-residence at Cité International des Arts in Paris, and at Tokyo Wonder Site in Tokyo, Japan. Noor was a member of the Open Studio group that exhibited in several exhibitions in Palestine, followed by workshops, lectures and collaborative working. She has participated in several exhibitions in Palestine and internationally.
